In 2018 the Launch Festival is going international. It’s uprooting itself from the global hub of innovation, Silicon Valley, and making its way down under to host the Launch Festival Sydney on June 19-20, 2018.

The Launch Festival is the creation of famed Angel Investor, Author, Podcast Host and Entrepreneur Jason Calacanis who has invested in 150+ companies. Jason’s portfolio includes six unicorns and some of the world’s most recognisable startups including Uber, Thumbtack, Robinhood and Wealthfront.

The Launch Festival Sydney was made possible with support from the NSW Government, Destination NSW, the Department of Industry and Business Events Sydney. When initially announcing that the festival would take place in Sydney, NSW State Premier Gladys Berejiklian remarked that “Securing the rights of the Launch festival through Business Events Sydney is a coup for our fast-growing startup community,”.

One thousand plus attendees are expected at the festival which is to be held at the SMC Conference & Function Centre in Sydney’s CBD. The festival will feature a mix of presentations from industry leading figures, fireside chats, startup pitches and a demo pit for startups.

As part of the festival the Launch Festival Sydney Startup Competition will take place with twenty startups being selected to compete across three categories, including best of frontier tech, best of cryptocurrency and best year one startup that has had their product in market for less than 12 months.

The overall winner of this competition will then be accepted into the Launch Incubator program in Silicon Valley and receive a $100,000 investment into their startup.

In a further show of support for the Australian Startup Community, Jason Calacanis and the Launch Festival Sydney are giving away 1,000 tickets to early stage startup founders who can benefit from the event. Startup founders who are interested in attending can apply for tickets here. Non-founders are encouraged to support the event and help make the festival a success by purchasing tickets here.

Pricing for non-founders starts at $395 and includes access to the “Startup Safari”, breakfast and lunch, as well as access to the video library 48 hours following the event. VIP ticket holders who purchase the $795 ticket will receive priority seating, as well as access to the speaker dinner on the Tuesday night, and founder dinner on the Wednesday.

To date two speakers have been confirmed for the event including Paige Craig, the Founder & General Partner of Arena Ventures, and entrepreneur Maren Kate, previously of Zirtual and now Managing Partner at Recruit. Additional speakers are expected to be announced shortly.
